David Butler and Rachel Shedden from our Food Ingredients sales team joined forces with Janine Blackburn and Chris Cowling from Technical and Supply Chain to attend the Scottish Bakers annual conference at the beginning of June.

It proved to be a great partnership and a fantastic opportunity to meet existing customers and form new alliances, north of the border.

Scottish Bakers is a trade body which exists to promote and protect the interests of Scotland’s baking industry. Its annual conference, which took place in Glasgow, was attended by bakers of all types and sizes from small, independent businesses to the very largest baking plants and blue-chip companies.

David Butler takes up the story…

“We used the opportunity to introduce our new range of plant-based, dairy-free butter alternatives. Ideal for both sweet and savoury applications. They can be used to make pies, cakes, biscuits & breads and are approved by the Vegan Society.

“We also chatted to visitors about how we can help to address a wide range of industry challenges, such as how to reduce sugar and control calories, without having a negative impact on taste or texture.

“It was good to work with our Technical and Supply Chain colleagues to explain how Co-Development can produce solutions to individual product development or re-formulation challenges. Our combined experience and knowledge really helped us to put our best foot forward.”

The exhibition was a great success and the team is now working hard to convert the many positive conversations they had into live projects.
